Peer Review Policy

International Journal of Pharma Insight Studies (IJPIS)
E-ISSN: 3107-393X

1. Purpose of Peer Review

The peer review process is a cornerstone of academic quality assurance. At the International Journal of Pharma Insight Studies (IJPIS), peer review is designed to evaluate the scientific merit, originality, clarity, and ethical integrity of manuscripts submitted for publication. Reviewers assist the editorial team in making informed decisions and in helping authors refine and strengthen their work prior to publication.

2. Review Structure and Process

  1. Double-Blind Process: The journal employs a double-blind peer review system. Under this model, the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process to minimize bias and ensure objective evaluation.
  2. Initial Editorial Screening: Upon submission, every manuscript is initially screened by the editorial team to determine fit with the journal’s aims and scope and to ensure compliance with fundamental submission guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet basic quality or relevance standards may be returned without external review.
  3.  Peer Reviewer Assignment: Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to expert reviewers with relevant subject-matter expertise. Reviewers are selected to provide independent, unbiased assessments of the manuscript’s scientific content.
3. Duties and Expectations of Reviewers

All reviewers contributing to IJPIS are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in their evaluations.

  1.  Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding manuscript content, authorship, and the review process. Manuscript materials must not be shared or discussed with individuals who are not part of the official review process.
  2. Objectivity and Constructive Feedback: Reviews should be impartial, balanced, and supported by clear rationale. Personal criticism is not permitted. Constructive feedback should focus on improving the quality and clarity of the research, methodology, and presentation.
  3. Promptness: Reviewers should complete evaluations within the agreed timeframe. If a reviewer is unable to meet the deadline or believes they lack adequate expertise to assess the manuscript, they must notify the editorial team promptly so that an alternate reviewer can be engaged.
  4. Acknowledgment of Prior Work: Reviewers should identify relevant literature that the authors may have overlooked and flag any substantial similarity to previously published work. This assists in maintaining the quality and completeness of the scholarly record.
  5. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest—personal, financial, professional, or institutional—that could compromise their objectivity. Reviewers who identify such conflicts must recuse themselves from the review.
4. Editorial Decision Making

Editorial decisions are made by the editorial team based on reviewer evaluations, relevance to the journal’s scope, and scholarly merit.

Decisions typically fall into one of the following categories:

  1. Accept without Revision: Manuscript meets all quality criteria.
  2. Accept with Minor Revisions: Manuscript is generally strong but requires minor improvements.
  3. Revise and Resubmit: Manuscript has potential but requires substantial revisions.
  4. Reject: Manuscript does not meet the standards of scientific rigor or relevance.

Reviewers’ comments are considered fundamental to these decisions and are communicated to authors in anonymized form.

5. Ethical Standards and Integrity

IJPIS adheres to internationally recognized ethical standards in scientific publishing. Reviewers and editors are expected to respect ethical guidelines regarding research conduct, confidentiality, authorship, and conflicts of interest.

The journal’s wider Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement and Conflict of Interest Policy outline detailed expectations on transparency, disclosure, and ethical responsibilities for authors, reviewers, and editors alike.

6. Commitment to Quality and Transparency

By implementing a rigorous double-blind review process, IJPIS commits to:

  1. Upholding academic excellence and integrity,
  2. Promoting unbiased and thorough scientific evaluation,
  3. Supporting authors in improving the quality of their research,
  4. Maintaining trust among the research community and readership.

This policy aligns with recognized standards for peer reviewed scholarly publication and supports the journal’s mission to disseminate high-quality pharmaceutical science research globally.
